8 November 2009 In the lecture, Mr Mundie will talk about the technologies that will change how people interact with the world, and discuss the opportunities for every academic discipline to harness the power of computing. Mr Mundie will also demonstrate and showcase a number of advanced technologies including manycore, spatial computing, speculative computing, 3D and natural user interfaces. And when combined, they will create a great deal of change that can bring education to a new level. He will also answer questions from the audience. Mr Craig Mundie is one of two senior executives who took over from Mr Bill Gates, reporting to CEO Mr Steve Ballmer. He oversees Microsoft¡¦s long-term technology strategy, works closely with government and business leaders around the world on technology policy, regulation and standards. Moreover, he directs the company¡¦s activities relating to healthcare, education, robotics, supercomputing, consumer electronics, and technology incubation. For more than a decade, Mr Mundie has served as Microsoft¡¦s principal technology-policy liaison to the US and foreign governments, with an emphasis on China, India and Russia. He was appointed by President Barack Obama to the President¡¦s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology in April 2009.
