Bai Xianyong (Pai Hsien-yung) 1937-
Born in Guilin, Guangxi, but grew up in Taiwan, and gained a BA in English Literature from National Taiwan University. He then moved to the U.S. and gained a Master's degree in Fine Arts from the University of Iowa. He was one of the founders of the bi-monthly Modern Literature. His writings include the short-story collection Taipei jen. He has been Professor of Chinese at the University of Southern California, Santa Barbara for many years.
