Chen Hongxu 1597-1665

Chen Hongxu never gained the jinshi degree, but was appointed a magistrate because of his father's position as president of the Board of War in Nanjing. By nature fiercely upright, he refused to serve the new Manchu rulers and remained loyal to the Ming, spending his final years at home writing books on history and geography, and many essays.
