Chen Kehua (Chen Ko-Hua) 1961-
Chen was born in Hua-lien. He trained as an ophthalmologist at the National Taiwan Medical School and has practised in that capacity since graduation. He began writing poetry as a high school student, and made his debut in 1983 with a collection of poetry entitled Qijing shaonian [Whale boy]. A highly acclaimed writer, Chen's recent output includes Qiankantou shi [Head-hunting poems] (1995), Bie ai moshengren [Never Love a Stranger] (1997) and Hua yu lei yu heliu [Flowers and Tears and Rivers] (Shulin, 2001). He has also written fiction, film-criticism and song lyrics.
