He Da [real name He Xiaoda 何孝達) 1915-1994
Born in Beijing, He Da started writing poetry at the age of fifteen and organized a poetry club at the university in Kunming during the Anti-Japanese War (1937–1945). His accessible style shows the influence of wartime poetry. He came to Hong Kong in 1949 where he continued to publish poems promoting the idea of proletarian revolution in the pro-Beijing Wen Wei Po 文匯報 and Ta Kung Pao 大公報. His poetry collections include Women kaihui 我們開會 [We are having a meeting] (1949) and He Da shixuan 何達詩選 [Selected poems of He Da] (1976).
