Hong Mai 1123-1202
Hong Mai was a renowned scholar-official, author, connoisseur of poetry and historian of the Southern Song (1127-1279). Born to a literati family, he passed the imperial examinations and had an uneven official career occupying a number of minor posts. Hong's literary works cover an extremely broad range including casual notebooks, official documents, his own verse reports on local government, and tales of the supernatural. The collection of stories of the latter category were published as Yijian zhi. His other works include Rongzhai suibi, Rongzhai shihua, Yechu leigao and Qiongye lu. He also edited an anthology of Tang poetry.
