Liang Shangquan (Liang Shang-ch'uan) 1931-

Contemporary writer. Born in Sichuan, Liang joined the PLA in 1950. He started publishing his work in 1948. His first collection of poetry, entitled Xuanteng de gaoyuan [Tumultuous plateau], was published in 1956. His work shows a strong folk-song influence and draws heavily on the poet's experiences in revolutionary base-camps in Sichuan and Shaanxi.
