Liu Xiaozu (Liu Hsiao-tsu) fl.1550

A native of what is now Peking and for some time Surveillance High Commissioner of Shaanxi. He was unhappy in his life as an official and turned to literature for relief. He wrote ten volumes of essays and poetry, but only a few sanqu survive. They show a strong influence of the folk tradition.
