Li Zhun 1928-2000
A prolific author of fiction and film scripts, mostly about peasant life, many set in his native Henan, Li Zhun is best known for the story and film version of Li Shuangshuang §õÂùÂù. He was born outside Luoyang into an educated family of Mongolian nationality, and studied poetry and calligraphy with his grandfather, learning to compose local operatic forms before turning to fiction in the early 1950s. His literary career was interrupted by the Cultural Revolution, but he resumed writing following his rehabilitation in 1978.
