Li Zhiyi 1038-1117

A Northern Song-dynasty (960-1125) poet and prose writer, Li gained the jinshi degree around 1078. He held several minor posts until he became embroiled in a controversy over an obituary, which resulted in his transfer to Taiping prefecture (in present-day Anhui). There he lived at Guxi, the place after which he named his collection of poetry Guxi ci 姑溪詞. Later his name was cleared and in 1117 he was appointed Grandmaster for Court Audiences.
