Tao Wangling 1562-1609
Ming-dynasty poet born in present day Zhejiang. In 1589, he received an official appointment, but retired seven years later. On his way home from the capital he became acquainted with Yuan Hongdao and his name is associated with the Gong'an school of writers. Tao emphasized the importance of personal feelings in the writing of prose. His poetry is more subdued, and is devoted largely to the description of landscapes.
