Wang Zengqi 1920-

Born in Gaoyou, Jiangsu province, he studied literature in the Southwest Union University and was strongly influenced by Shen Congwen. He published his first story in the 1940s, and his works won many national literature prizes. After 1949, he worked as an editor for various literary magazines including Beijing Literary Arts, and Folk Literature. He has been a playwright with the Beijing Opera troupe since 1962.
