Xiao Si [real name Lo Wai Luen 盧瑋鑾] 1939-

Born in Hong Kong, Xiao Si studied Chinese at The Chinese University of Hong Kong and received her Diploma of Education from the Northcote College of Education, after which she worked as a secondary school teacher before joining the tertiary institutes. A highly respected essayist, her collected works include Lushang tan 路上談 [On the road] (1979), Ri ying xing 日影行 [Japan travelogue] (1982) and Chengjiao xiao ji 承教小記 [Notes on learning] (1983). For decades Xiao Si has been the pre-eminent researcher of Hong Kong literature. Now retired, she holds an honorary position at the Hong Kong Literature Research Centre, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
