Xia Zhiyan (Hsia Chi-yen) [real name Lin Zhou] 1932-
Born in Singapore, he grew up in Shanghai and received his education in Beijing. He worked in a research institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences before leaving for Hong Kong on the eve of the Cultural Revolution. After a brief stay in Hong Kong he emigrated to Japan.
