Yang Shie 762?-819?
A native of Luoyang, Yang gained the jinshi degree in 785 and only held minor government posts. His involvement in the attack on the powerful reformer Wang Shuwen (753-806) in 805 almost cost him his life; his punishment was eventually demotion to the provinces. Yang's poetry, mostly descriptions of mountain hikes, can be found in several Tang anthologies.
