Yao Nai 1731-1815
Qing-dynasty writer born in what is now Anhui. Yao Nai was tutoted by both his uncle in the Confucian classics, and Liu Dakui, one of the foremost writers of his day, in the writing of literary prose. After a successful civil service career, he taught at various academies of classical learning for over forty years. He established himself as a great scholar and essayist, as well as a famous anthologist.
