Yuan Ji 1720-1759

Also known by her style name Suwen, Yuan Ji was one of Yuan Mei's younger sisters. Intelligent and industrious, she was educated at home from an early age. Writings about her life by loving family members reveal her sad fate in marriage and her loyal and caring character. Yuan's poetry is collected in Suwen nüzi yigao [Posthumous poetry collection of Suwen].
