Yu Ji 1272-1348
A native of Jiangxi, who started his official career in 1297 as Instructor in the Guozi jian (National University) and eventually rose to Attendant Academician in the Hall of Literature. Yu was a prolific prose writer mostly on Confucian philosophy, but he also wrote poetry, most of which is in praise of the imperial court though some peoms also carry a note of melancholy.
