Yu Qiuyu 1946-

Yu Qiuyu was born in Yuyao, Zhejiang province in 1946 but went to secondary school and university in Shanghai, hence the recurrent theme of 'Shanghai people' in his writings. His works, including Stressful Cultural Journeying [wenfa kulü] (1992) and Notes Made while Living in the Hills [shanju biji] (1995), won him prizes and a broad readership in mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.
