Zhang Xiaoshan 1947-

The youngest son of the writer and literary theorist Hu Feng (1902-1985), he obtained his master¡¦s degree in economics from Renmin University and his Ph.D. in economic management from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 1999. He is currently Director of the Research Centre for Agricultural Development of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and is the author of several books on rural institutional change, farmer cooperatives and rural social protection. In the literary world he is best known for his memoirs of the last years of his father.
