The Top Scorer Award is a University Admission Scholarship that covers full tuition and is renewable annually for the normative period of study, subject to the recommendation of the University Scholarship Selection Committee and the achievement of a year GPA of at least 3.0.
In addition, recipients will receive a Study Allowance and Exchange Scholarship totalling HK$410,000, offered on a one‑off basis to enrich their university life at CUHK through local and overseas learning activities.

High achievers who attain exceptional results — a total score of 44-45 in IBDP and 4A* or above in GCE-AL / IAL^ will be nominated by the Admissions Team to CUHK Colleges. Their outstanding academic achievements will be given special consideration by the Colleges during the College assignment process.
While the University endeavors to accommodate applicants’ preferences as far as possible, assignment to their first-choice College may not always be feasible due to limited places. Nevertheless, CUHK has consistently ensured that top scorers are guaranteed affiliation with one of their top two preferred Colleges.
^Subject to fulfilment of the conditions specified in the offer notification and enrolment at the University.
Offer holders will be invited to indicate their College Preference from April 2026. College Assignment will be released in August 2026 via CUSIS.
Eligible applicants who can proceed to Student Registration will receive an email confirmation through your registered email account in early August. Applicants who have formally registered as a CUHK student will then proceed to course registration.
Attend new students orientation activities in August 2026.
In assigning new students to different Colleges, it is desirable that each College would have students from different faculties/ departments to facilitate interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge and ideas and to widen the students' intellectual perspective. The system for assigning new students to Colleges takes into consideration the preferences of students, their study programmes and admission scores. Priority is given to a new student to be assigned to his/her first-preference College if either of his/her parent is an alumnus/alumna of the College.
While students will be assigned college affiliation based on their preferences as far as possible, they may not be assigned to their most preferred College owing to limitation of places available.
Hostel Accommodation
You may apply for hostel accommodation through your College after
results of college assignment are released. The College Assignment Results will be released in August 2026 via CUSIS.
Applicants admitted to a full-time undergraduate programme will automatically be considered for University Admission Scholarships. No separate application is necessary. The value of each Admission Scholarship ranges from HK$10,000 to a full-tuition coverage.
