The Department of Anthropology, Chinese University of Hong Kong, invites graduate students in Asia and elsewhere to present their current research at the Postgraduate Student Forum: Current Asian Anthropology. The Forum, to be held 21-22 January 2011 (Friday and Saturday) at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, will showcase the best of studentsˇ¦ contemporary research.
Hong Kong is a global city, a major node for trade, investment, and the exchange of ideas. The Postgraduate Student Forum seeks to encourage the communication among young anthropologists in and of the East and Southeast Asian region, to help improve their research and to make the excellent research being conducted in Asia to be better known internationally.
Presentations and Panels
- We encourage proposals for panel as well as individual papers. Papers will then be organized into panels. Each paper presentation will last 20 minutes; PowerPoint and multimedia equipment will be provided.
- Language of the forum will be English, Putonghua and Cantonese, though English is encouraged.
How to Apply
Submit the application form including the abstract (in English) of the paper to PostgraduateForum2011@cuhk.edu.hk on or before 1 October 2010.
Confirmation and Registration
- Email confirmation of acceptance or rejection will be sent on 15 October 2010.
- Registration procedures must be completed on or before 15 November 2010.
- Registration fee will cost HK$200 or US$26. Details of payment method will be included with acceptance letter and registration form.
- Abstract submissions will be published online upon completion of registration.
- Paper submissions will also be published online if received in PDF format on or before 31 December 2010.

Accommodation
Participants are encouraged to make their own plans for accommodation. Possible hotels located near CUHK include Regal Riverside Hotel and Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Shatin.
Meals
- Lunch and refreshments will be provided on both days.
- A self-paying dinner will be organized for 21 January.
