文化遺產研究中心2010年訪問學人

本中心幸獲玄陵世界遺產基金會資助，得以邀請英國樸茨茅斯大學教授Peter Howard於2010年2月25日至3月5日到訪。訪問期間，Howard教授於2月26日與本系教師及部分研究生進行學術座談，於2月28日在利黃瑤璧樓講演廳發表題為“文化遺產之發生”的公開講演，並於2月28日領導了一個本科和研究生的工作坊，內容是香港的城市遺產保育。

出席Howard教授之公開講演的有中文大學文學院院長熊秉真教授，大學不同學系的教師、本科生和研究生，香港政府和社會從事與文化遺產保育相關工作之專業人仕，以及對文化遺產有興趣之社會大眾共百余人。出席者普遍認為該講演令他們獲益良多。

Visiting Professor of the Centre in 2010

Sponsored by the Genlin World Heritage Foundation, the Centre for cultural Heritage Studies invited Prof. Peter Howard from Bournemouth University, UK to visit the Centre from 23rd Feb. to 4th March 2010. During his visit, Prof. Howard had an academic discussion with some teachers and postgraduate students of the department of Anthropology on 25th Feb., delivered a public lecture titled “The Rise of Heritage” at Esther Lee Building, CUHK on 26th Feb., and led a one-day workshop on Hong Kong’s Urban Heritage Preservation for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Department of Anthropology on 28th Feb.

More than one hundred persons, including Prof. Dean Hsiung of the Faculty of Arts, teachers, undergraduate and postgraduate students of various departments of CUHK, government officer, and professionals of private companies and foundations working on heritage, as well as public members interested in the topic, attended the public lecture. They all enjoyed and were inspired by Prof. Howard’s talk.

With continuous financial support from the Genlin World Heritage Foundation, it is hoped that more visiting scholarship will be arranged in the future.
