Abstract: |
Involving Students-as-Partners (SaP) in teaching and learning is an essential strategy that encourages students to take learning steps outside their comfort zone. SaP is a close collaboration between students and teachers to enhance teaching and learning by actively including students in the educational process. Effective SaP implementation with recognition of potential barriers faced is crucial for the success of this collaborative relationship between teachers and students. This workshop aims to (1) explore the concept of SaP in Higher Education in the Hong Kong context; (2) identify potential options for SaP in Higher Education; (3) address potential barriers and challenges for diverse types of SaP initiatives; (4) provide practical experience for teachers to engage in SaP design and (5) illustrate the impact on students with implementing SaP. Teachers could gain practical tips on SaP through small group case discussions, experience sharing and simulated mock designs of SaP projects. At the end of the workshop, teachers may consider applying SaP initiatives in their academic activities in Higher Education.
