Authentic assessment acknowledges the authentic skills, practices, and tools that students will need in their future professions. While authentic assessment is not a new idea, we need to rethink it in the digital world, particularly in the age of AI. Nowadays, students use and live with digital technology: AI is a part of our everyday life in higher education. How could we design authentic assessment tasks in the digital world?
Dr NIEMINEN Juuso Henrik is an Assistant Professor at The University of Hong Kong and a Banting Fellow at Ontario Tech University, Canada. He is also an Adjunct Professor (Docent) at the University of Eastern Finland and an Honorary Fellow at the Centre for Research in Assessment and Digital Learning (CRADLE), Deakin University, Australia. His research explores how assessment takes shape and shapes people in our digital societies. He is particularly interested in a student perspective on assessment. He has also studied assessment from inclusion, equity, and diversity viewpoints.
