Mobile devices certainly outperform desktop computers in portability. A recent study conducted at CUHK showed that nearly all (over 80%) of our students have mobile phones and/or netbook/ notebook computers, and they often bring them along to the University. The potential of using mobile devices as a really ‘anytime, anywhere’ learning device is significant. In this session, we will concentrate on the potential of using mobile devices as a means to facilitate communication in a face-to-face classroom setting. Participants will get hands-on experiences with strategies such as web-based clickers, and web-based tools that aim at facilitating students’ understanding of lectures. Participants, please bring your WiFi-enabled mobile devices along.
