Project Objectives

This project aims to provide assistance to University General Education (UGE) courses to more systematically specify the learning outcomes they aim towards.

Description of process and deliverables

  • The project was carried out and concluded in accordance to the original timeline.
  • A set of desired learning outcomes for the overall UGE programme and the Four Areas was developed.
  • These outcomes were further developed into questionnaire items which are now included in UGE’s regular Course Evaluation exercise.
  • Several consultation sessions and workshops were held with teachers. Specific areas for improvements identified in the process were also discussed with departments concerns. There was noted improvement in these areas.

Evaluation of outcomes

Notable improvement in UGE Area A Chinese Cultural Heritage was observed which resulted directly from this project. Evaluation of this project is based on longitudinal tracking to see if the questionnaire and feedback leads to improvements in course effectiveness. Therefore, the eventual outcome of this project would not be achieved until some time after it is completed.

Dissemination of results & deliverables

Consultation sessions, retreat and workshops were held for the dissemination of the outcomes statements. Specific areas for improvements identified in the process were also discussed with departments concerns. There was noted improvement in these areas.
