Project Objectives

In this project, a group of motivated science teachers took the initiatives to examine the effectiveness and to promote the use of clickers in enhancing science teaching. The long-term objective is to use technology to achieving system-level enhancement in science teaching.

Description of process and deliverables

  • Acquire hardware and train supporting staff
  • Design learning activities and clicker questions
  • Implement in more than 15 courses (at least one from each science department; with different levels, class sizes, and learning activities)
  • Evaluation and dissemination
  • Evaluation of outcomes

The project was monitored by CLEAR. Both quantitative and qualitative feedback collected are highly positive (details in the project website http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/sci/clicker/).

    Dissemination of results & deliverables

      Within CUHK Science Faculty
    • A workshop was held in July 2009
    • A booklet that collects recent initiatives in science programmes is under preparation
      Within CUHK
    • Promoted in an orientation for New Academic Staff held on September 09
    • Promoted in CUHK’s September 2009 issue of eLearning Newsletter
      To a Larger Community
    • Three posters and one oral presentation were delivered in the Teaching and Learning Innovation ExPo organized by CUHK in October 2009. They jointly obtained the Poster Award.
