- To formulate a planning and design framework in line with the vision and missions of the University, enhancing the character and identity of the University and the Colleges.
- To project a visionary value and set a guiding platform for the University's sustainable development.
- To suggest ways of preserving the campus' historical landmarks and green character, enhancing the identity of the Colleges, maintaining the Central Mall as the centerpiece of CUHK, and improving the campus connectivity.
- To provide general guidelines for building and grounds standard design including disposition and height, suggestion on materials to enhance the built and natural landscape, sustainable design measures and means for harmonious integration.
