Mr Mong obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1984 and a Master of Business Administration from Santa Clara University in 1989. From 1985 to 1989, he served in Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd in Japan, where he gained a thorough understanding of the Japanese management style as well as hands on experience with advanced technology. Mr Mong joined Shun Hing Electronic Trading Co Ltd as Executive Director in 1991. Currently, he is the Vice-Chairman of Shun Hing Group and holds a number of directorships in other Shun Hing Group companies. Mr Mong is active in serving the community by making donations and taking part in public services. Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund has contributed over HK$400 million over the years in support of projects in the fields of education, medical services, sports, arts and culture, and environmental protection in Hong Kong, mainland China and overseas. Mr Mong is a member of the Hospital Governing Committee of the MacLehose Medical Rehabilitation Centre; Director of The University of Hong Kong Foundation for Educational Development and Research; Director of Jinan University; Council Member, Member of the Executive Committee and Fellow of The Hong Kong Management Association. In the electronics industry, Mr Mong is the Vice-Chairman of Hong Kong and Kowloon Electrical Appliance Merchants Association; Board Member of the Radio Association of Hong Kong; and Founding Honorary President of the Professional Validation Centre of Hong Kong Business Centre. Mr David Mong has also been a staunch supporter of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The Shun Hing Institute of Advanced Engineering was established in 2004 with a generous donation from the Shun Hing Education and Charity Fund, of which Mr Mong is Chairman. He also serves as the founding Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Institute. Besides, Mr Mong has contributed his expertise and experience to the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Engineering and Advisory Committee of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences of the Chinese University.
