Mr Lee Kam Chung read history in New Asia College and the New Asia Institute of Advanced Studies in the 1950s. In 1964, he was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, becoming a member of the first batch of graduates of the University. In 1980, he obtained a Master of Philosophy degree from The University of Hong Kong. Mr Lee Kam Chung has committed himself to education for over 4 decades. After graduating from the Chinese University, he first taught at Kowloon Tong Secondary School. Later in 1969, he founded Sapientia College. From 1984 to 1991, he served as Principal of Confucius Hall Middle School. He has been Chairman of the Education Foundation of the Federation of the Alumni Associations of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Limited since 1982. The Foundation set up two secondary schools (CUHK FAA Thomas Cheung Secondary School and CUHK FAA Chan Chun Ha Secondary School), one primary school (CUHK FAA Thomas Cheung School) and two kindergartens (CUHK FAA Thomas Cheung Kindergarten and CUHK FAA Chan Chun Ha Kindergarten). From their inception until 2002, Mr Lee has served as Supervisor of the three secondary and primary schools, and is currently the Supervisor of CUHK FAA Thomas Cheung Kindergarten. He has also served as a Member of the School Management Committee of Confucius Hall Middle School, Hon Wah Middle School and Hong Kong Shu Yan School. Besides Hong Kong, Mr Lee has demonstrated tremendous concern for education in Mainland China. He was the Founding Principal of the School for H.K. Children in Guangdong. Dedicated to community services, Mr Lee Kam Chung has held various offices including Chairperson of the Wong Nai Chung Area Committee, Vice-Chairperson of the Wanchai District Fight Crime Committee, Chairperson of Lions Club International District 303-Hong Kong & Macau Zone III, Chairman of the Wanchai Junior Police Call Activity Committee, Vice-President of the Hong Kong Senior Education Workers Association Ltd, Vice-Chairperson of the Wanchai Kai Fong Welfare Association, Member of the Sub-Committee on Promotion of Student and Youth Volunteering of Volunteer Movement, Regional Vice President of St John Ambulance Brigade, Advisor of Hok Yau Club, Member of the Planning Committee of Association for the Promotion of Proper Cantonese Pronunciation, and Advisor of the Hong Kong Youth Cultural and Arts Competition. Mr Lee Kam Chung has made remarkable contributions to local district administration, livelihood improvement and youth development. He was awarded the Governor's Commendation for Community Service in 1993, the Queen's Badge of Honour in 1996, and St. John Ambulance Serving Brother in 2003. Over the years, Mr Lee Kam Chung has lent his time and expertise to the development of his alma mater. He has been a Member of the University Council since 1994, and was appointed a Member of the Search Committee for the Appointment of the Vice-Chancellor in the same year. Mr Lee was a Member of the New Asia College Board of Trustees from 1978 to 1994 and has donated scholarships to support Chinese University students. He has also been an enthusiastic promoter of alumni affairs and played an instrumental role in strengthening ties between alumni and the University through his capacities as Chairman of the Federation of Alumni Associations, Chairman of CUHK Convocation, and Chairman of New Asia College Alumni Association.
