31 May 2007 Survey Reveals
The survey was conducted by the Career Planning & Development Centre of the Office of Student Affairs of the University from November to December 2006 by means of questionnaires and telephone interviews. It covered full-time first-degree graduates of 2006 and MB ChB graduates of 2005. Of all the 2,516 respondents, 98% were engaged in employment or pursued further studies. The average monthly salary for those in employment was HK$15,228, which represents a 6.8% increase when compared with that of 2005. 93.9% of respondents were given their first job offers by the end of September 2006, showing similar number of graduates who secured employment by the same time in 2005. Most graduates joined the Commerce & Industry sector (70.3%), followed by Education (14.1%), Social & Public Organisations (12.8%) and Government (2.8%). The top seven career fields engaged by our graduates were: Accounting / Auditing (11.1%), Banking and Finance (10.7%), Teaching (10%), Computer Engineering / Information Technology (9.4%), Administration / Management (7.8%), Medical & Health Services (7.8%) and Sales & Marketing (6.3%). In terms of job satisfaction, up to 93.4% were satisfied with their current jobs.
