Professor T. J. WONG
Director, School of Accountancy
Faculty of Business Administration
Professor T.J. Wong receives a Vice Chancellor¡¦s Exemplary Teaching Award for his work in accountancy education. He is Director of the School of Accountancy, Chair Professor of Accountancy and Associate Dean of Research at the Faculty of Business Administration, and Director of the Center for Institutions and Governance. Professor Wong says his greatest challenge lies showing how accounting is not an abstract concept, but the language of business with which companies communicate to their stakeholders. He meets that challenge by providing real-life examples and finely balancing the technical and contextual aspects of his lectures. Before joining The Chinese University of Hong Kong he taught at the University of Maryland ¡V College Park and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. He has taught courses at all levels, including undergraduate, MBA, EMBA, Master of Accountancy, and PhD. His research has featured in leading finance and accounting journals, and in the popular media. For Professor Wong, the most important thing about teaching is being able to organize an effective syllabus, one that always meets student needs.
Motto: I want to make accounting, the language of business, come alive in the classroom for students.
