Professor Lutz-Christian WOLFF
Professor, School of Law
Professor Wolff is a Professor at the School of Law and Chairman of Graduate Studies of the School¡¦s Taught Postgraduate Programmes. When asked to describe his approach to legal education, Professor Lutz-Christian Wolff replies that it is much more important to discuss legal issues in their social, economic and cultural contexts than to teach black-letter law. That sort of holistic thinking makes Professor Wolff a worthy recipient of the Vice-Chancellor¡¦s Exemplary Teaching Award 2007. With a background that spans legal practice and teaching in both Germany and Hong Kong, he has published numerous books and articles on international and Chinese business law, and on comparative law. He has also spoken around the world on Chinese law and the legal aspects of doing business in the mainland. Professor Wolff¡¦s recent focus at the School of Law has been on teaching international economics and business law. He cites his students¡¦ enthusiasm as a highlight of his career, and is thankful for being able to contribute to the formation of their world views.
