Professor Mun was awarded the Diplom-Volkswirt by University of Freiburg, Germany in 1965 and Dr. rer.pol. in 1967. He joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 1969 as Lecturer of the Faculty of Business Administration and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 1974. He was appointed Professor of Marketing in 1982. Professor Mun retired from the University in 2000 and has become Emeritus Professor of Marketing since. During his over 30 years of excellent service to the University, Professor Mun performed various administrative duties and made remarkable contributions to the development of the University, and the Faculty of Business Administration in particular. He was Head of the Department of Business Administration and Department of Marketing and International Business, New Asia College, and Chairman of the Board of Studies in Marketing and International Business of the University. He was Dean of the Faculty from 1981 to 1984 and from 1987 to 1993, and Director of the Executive MBA Programme from 1992 to 2002. Professor Mun also held important positions in the University including Chairman of Senate University Scholarships Committee, Chairman of the Advisory Board to the School of Continuing Studies, and Chairman of the Management Board of the Asia-Pacific Institute of Business. He was one of the major planners for the establishment of the Faculty of Business Administration in 1974. During his first deanship, he initiated the reorganization of the Faculty and introduced the integrated BBA degree programme and the integration of the MBA Division with the Faculty. He was also instrumental in setting up the Asia-Pacific Institute of Business in CUHK. Professor Mun pioneered the launch of the Executive MBA programme at CUHK in 1992, the first of its kind in Hong Kong, and had served as founding Director of the Programme until 2002. The Programme has often been ranked as a leading programme in both Asia-Pacific Region and internationally and the remarkable contribution of Professor Mun is vital to its success. Professor Mun helped the University to re-establish its ties with universities and ministries on the Mainland. In 1978, shortly after China reopened its doors, he organized the first training courses in Hong Kong for executives from the Mainland. In the 1980s and 1990s, he travelled extensively on the Mainland to help universities set up programmes in marketing and international business, and business administration. He held numerous honorary professorships in Mainland institutions. Professor Mun has contributed significantly to the application of classic Chinese philosophy especially Yijing (I Ching), in modern management.
