Dr. Petti Pang
She discovered the important underlying mechanism of human long-term memory. She found that a protein called proBDNF, produced by the tPA/Plasmin enzyme system, is essential for the brain to convert short-term memory into long-term memory. If the production of active BDNF is not functioning, long-term memory formation will be hindered. These results were published in the prestigious journal Science. The more we know about the process of memory formation, the more likely we could find drugs or other means to improve learning and memory, and cure illness-induced memory disorders.
