¡@¡@A prominent and dedicated civil service employee, Ms Cheung has made tremendous contributions to the broadcasting field. In 1988, she became the first woman and first Chief of Broadcasting from the Asia-Pacific region to be elected President of the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association. ¡@¡@Ms Cheung has been a devoted supporter of community services, and has a deep concern for the communal development in Hong Kong. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to Hong Kong, Ms Cheung was awarded the Outstanding Young Persons' Award in 1980 and the Silver Bauhinia Star in 2002. ¡@¡@Ms Cheung has maintained
a close relationship with her alma mater, and Chung Chi College in particular
since she graduated from the University in 1968. She was Member of the
Organizing Committee of the Farewell Dinner for Professor and Mrs Charles
Kao in 1996 and was Mentor of the Mentor Programme of Chung Chi College
from 1999 to 2000. Over the years, the Chinese University has benefited
enormously from Ms Cheung's valuable effort, time and advice.
