- Note the characteristic multiple Auer rods in the cytoplasms of the leukaemic cells
- These cells are also known as "Faggot cells"
- This morphology is diagnostic of M3 leukaemia
- Coagulopathy with bleeding complications is common in this subtype of leukaemia
