- Peripheral blood films showing various stage of p. vivax:
a. early trophozoite or ring form
b & c. young amoeboid trophozoites with Schüffner's dots
d & e. developing trophozoites which have undergone asexual binary fission
f - h. female gametocytes with localized eccentric chromatin
i & j. male gametocytes with more diffuse chromatin
k - o. early and later meronts with haemozoin pigment densities and many merozoites randomly distributed.
