Biography

Dr Tsang Chi Wai, is a Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor of Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is Associate Consultant of Hong Kong Eye Hospital, coordinating the vitreoretinal team. He has been awarded the Li Po Chun Charitable Trust overseas training scholarship and received further training in vitreoretinal diseases in Germany, Japan and Spain. When he was undergraduate,he was awarded with Mary Sun Medical Scholarship, S.K Yee Medical Foundation Scholarships, Joyce M Kuok Foundation Scholarships ,Wealth Physiotherapy & Medical Laboratory Prize in Chemical Pathology, Y.H.Ling Memorial Bursary, Cheung Chuk Shan Scholarship and P.C. Wu Scholarship. He was awarded the Exemplary Senior Eye Resident Award in Hong Kong Eye Hospital in 2004. He was awarded a silver medal in Grand Round Presentation Competition in 2004.

Research interests

Ophthalmic surgery: Main research area include retinal detachment surgery, use of 23 gauge vitrectomy, combined phacoemulsification and vitrectomy, sclera-fixated intraocular lens implantation, diabetic tractional retinal detachment and macular hole surgery.
