Programme Director

The M.Sc Programme in E-Commerce and Logistics Technologies was established in 2001. It aims to educate a new generation of talents equipped with a combined knowledge in two areas: advanced Internet-centric technologies, and enterprise solutions, to manage and support Internet business and operations in the 21st Century. The programme was originally offered as a part-time, course-based programme, and hundreds of business executives and professionals working in banks, investment firms, logistics companies, IT companies, and government departments have studied and graduated from the programme since its inauguration. The programme has recently further introduced a full-time study mode, to provide the opportunity for non-local students to study in Hong Kong.

E-commerce technologies have been widely and successfully used for management and operations of business firms and organizations today. Typical examples include: e-banking, online trading of stock markets, procurement of enterprises through Internet, online shopping, Internet marketing, e-government services, etc. For supply chains involving multi-national operations, Internet has become a necessary means to facilitate business transactions and coordination. "Logistics technologies" studied in our programme deal with not only traditional transportation logistics of moving cargos from one location to another, but also all kinds of operational logistics associated with running business making use of Internet technologies. The curriculum of our programme has been carefully designed to reflect the latest technological developments and to meet the needs of industries, to prepare our students for success upon graduation and leadership in the future.

The programme is organized by the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, in collaboration with other sister departments in The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Our faculty members are renowned for their world-class research and development work. The programme is also supported by a set of advanced teaching and learning facilities, including the Centre for Logistics Technologies and Supply Chain Optimization, the Lab for Enterprise Resource Planning/Supply Chain Management, Lab for E-Services Systems, and the Lab for Financial Engineering.

The programme is suitable for applicants with background in engineering, science, business management, and other related areas. Non-local applicants are particularly encouraged to apply to our full-time study mode.
