Fei Ming 廢名 [pen name of Feng Wenbing 馮文炳]
Fei was a modern Chinese novelist, poet, and scholar of Buddhism. In 1922 he was admitted to Peking University, where he studied under Zhou Zuoren’s 周作人 mentorship and started to publish his writing in magazines. He is regarded as an icon of the ‘Beijing School’ (Jingpai 京派) of literature, though his abstruse style might have restricted the readership of his works. His most renowned novels include Qiao 橋 [Bridge] and Mo Xuyou xiansheng zhuan 莫須有先生傳 [Biography of Mr Mo Xuyou].
