Zhu Shouju 朱瘦菊 1892-1966

He was a Shanghai author, who used the pend name Haishangshuomengren 海上說夢人 [Shanghai teller of dreams]. His work Xiepu chao 歇浦潮 [The Shanghai tide] was serialized by Xin shenbao 新申報 for a full five years, and published as a book in 1921. Soon thereafter his career focus shifted to the movie field. In 1924, he became the editor-in-chief of Dianying zazhi 電影雜誌 [Movie magazine]. He later founded his own film company and was said to be among the first generation screenwriters and directors in China.
