Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, together with the Joint Shantou Intention Eye Center, are delighted to host a two-day course on the latest development in the genome-editing technology, including Zine Finger Nucleases (ZFNs), the Transcription Activator-Like Effector Nucleases (TALENs), and the Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats/CRISPR-associated nucleases (CRISPR/Cas). Students in this course will specifically investigate the potential applications of these genome-editing tools in basic research and disease treatments, and discuss the associated ethical and social issues. The course will be taught by Dr Yuk Fai Leung from Purdue University.
