Welcome to the 6th Postgraduate Student Forum entitled "Asia in the World: New Horizons in Asian Anthropology".

Every year since 2009, the Department of Anthropology has invited postgraduate students from Asia and elsewhere to present their current research at the Postgraduate Student Forum. The Forum is intended to showcase the best of students' contemporary research and Hong Kong is the perfect place as it is a global city, a major node for trade, investment, and the exchange of ideas. The Forum seeks to encourage the communication among young anthropologists and other social scientists who study the Asia continent, to help improve their research and to promote the excellent research being conducted internationally.

The upcoming forum will be held on Friday and Saturday, 17-18 January 2014 in the Yasumoto International Academic Park (YIA) Lecture Theatres (LT1, LT2, LT5) of Chung Chi College, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Registration for conference participants will be open during 8:30-9:00am on 17 January 2014. The opening ceremony will begin at 9am in Lecture Theatre 2.

Be GREEN! BYOB!

This year, in compliance with CUHK's Sustainable Campus Initiative, we are also striving to be more 'green' this year. The PGSF6 is BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle) so we are encouraging all participants to bring their own water bottles and thermoses to use during the forum. Here is a PDF list of the locations of water dispensers on campus (a map can be found on the aforementioned CUHK Mobile App (iOS/Android)) Please see our CUHK Sustainable Campus Website and check out the short online video 'Bring Your Own' created by the Campus Planning and Sustainability Office (CPSO) to find out more about how to 'Bring Your Own' in CUHK!

You can email us or get up-to-date information by following us on Facebook, Twitter, and Weibo.

Since we have a large international audience, all presentations will be conducted in ENGLISH. Paper presentations are grouped into themed panels and each individual paper presentation will last a maximum of 15 minutes.

*Note to Participants: Participants shall submit their final papers no later than 27 December 2013! Please click on the “Information for Participants” tab for detailed information and click here for forum rules.

We are looking forward to lively and engaging forum at CUHK in January!
