Research Centre for Cantonese
The Research Centre for Cantonese was officially established in the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2000 with the intention of promoting research on Cantonese. It is the first research centre of its kind in Hong Kong dedicated to the study of Cantonese linguistics. Since 2012, the Centre has been affliliated with the Institute of Chinese Studies in order to further promote research in Chinese studies.
Our mission:
-to achieve excellence in research in Cantonese linguistics, playing a leading role in the field
-to promote the theoretical study of Cantonese and other Chinese dialects
-to explore and develop innovative methodologies and approaches for Cantonese studies
