June 6, 2025 Seminar on "International Chinese Language Education for NCS Students"
On June 6, 2025, the Seminar on "International Chinese Language Education for NCS Students" was successfully held at CCC Kwei Wah Shan College, which is jointly organized by the Chinese Language Learning Assessment Centre of the Hong Kong Financial Services Institute and CCC Kwei Wah Shan College. The Hong Kong Base of the Joint Research Institute for International Communication of Language and Culture of the Ministry of Education served as one of the academic supporting units for this event. The Chinese Language Learning Assessment Centre was jointly established in late 2023 by Chinese Testing International Co., Ltd. (under the Center for Language Education and Cooperation) and the Hong Kong Financial Services Institute, and is the first institution of its kind in Hong Kong. The event attracted over 280 Non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students from various grade levels to participate in their first International Chinese Language Education experience through graded demonstration classes. More than 50 guests from education, government, and other fields attended the event. It marked the official launch of International Chinese Language Education in Hong Kong, with Putonghua and Simplified Chinese as its core components. It further reinforces Hong Kong's commitment to a multilingual and inclusive education approach, creating a fair, high-quality, and diversified platform for NCS students to learn and develop their Chinese language skills.
