The 30th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON YUE DIALECTS The 30th International Conference on Yue Dialects will be held on December 18-19, 2026 at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), which is jointly organized by the T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre, CUHK and the Department of Chinese Language and Literature, CUHK, co-organized by the Hong Kong Base of the Joint Research Institute for International Communication of Language and Culture of the Ministry of Education and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance for Chinese, and sponsored by the Faculty of Arts, CUHK and the United College, CUHK. This Conference will be one of the commemorative activities for the 60th anniversary of the T.T. Ng Chinese Language Research Centre, CUHK. Keynote Speakers (Sort by English surname) • Prof. Francis Bond (Palacký University Olomouc) • Prof. Andy Chin (Hong Kong Metropolitan University) • Prof. Hou Xingquan (Jinan University) • Prof. Francis Bond Prof. Francis Bond is Head of the Department of General Linguistics and a Professor in the Department of Asian Studies, Palacký University Olomouc, The Czech Republic. His main research interest is in natural language understanding. He is interested in both structure and meaning, cooperating with researchers across the globe to provide open language resources. He has developed and released large semantic networks for Chinese, Japanese, Malay and Indonesian, as well as coordinating the Open Multilingual Wordnet. In addition, he works on formal modelling of syntax in head-driven phrase structure grammar, mainly on Japanese, but with some work on Cantonese, Indonesian and Mandarin Chinese. He is president of the Global Wordnet Association and a founding member of the Deep Linguistic Processing with HPSG Initiative (DELPH-IN). • Prof. Andy Chin Prof. Andy Chin is a Professor at the School of Education and Languages, Hong Kong Metropolitan University. His research interests include linguistic typology, sociolinguistics, corpus linguistics, and discourse analysis. His academic work includes Common Latin Terms in Hong Kong Legal Language and Routledge Handbook on Cantonese Linguistics. The Mid-20th Century Hong Kong Cantonese Corpus developed by him serves as an important resource for Cantonese linguistic research. The corpus received the Gold Medal at the Silicon Valley International Invention Festival in 2019. • Prof. Hou Xingquan Prof. Hou Xingquan is a Professor and the Dean of the College of Chinese Language and Culture, Jinan University. He also serves as the director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Philosophy and Social Sciences, specifically the "Key Laboratory of Digital Chinese Language and Culture", as well as the director of the Guangdong Provincial Digital Chinese Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center. Additionally, he is the editor-in-chief of TCSOL Studies. His primary research areas include Lingnan dialects and culture, digital humanities, international Chinese education, and the inheritance and dissemination of Chinese language and culture. He has been awarded the second prize of the 18th Wang Li Linguistics Award from Peking University and the third prize of the 2nd Luo Changpei Linguistics Award from the Chinese Linguistic Society.
