梁啟信教授現任香港中文大學眼科及視覺科學學系教授。梁教授是臨床醫生科學家,其主要研究重點在於青光眼的診斷和治療。梁教授在香港完成本科醫學培訓5 年後取得香港中文大學醫學博士學位。其後梁教授獲得Croucher基金會獎學金,於美國加州大學聖地牙哥分校Hamilton青光眼中心,完成了青光眼臨床及研究的專科培訓。梁教授還獲頒Chevening獎學金,於英國倫敦帝國學院接受了分子醫學的研究培訓。
梁教授現任英國眼科學刊 (British Journal of Ophthalmology) 和亞太眼科學刊 (Asia Pacific Journal of Ophthalmology) 的章節編輯,國際青光眼綜述 (International Glaucoma Review) 的特約編輯,眼科流行病學 (Ophthalmic Epidemiology),醫學影像專利進展 (Recent Patents on Medical Imaging)和眼科手術進展亞太版 (Ocular Surgery News (Asia Pacific Edition)) 的編輯委員,世界青光眼協會副諮詢委員會成員,以及多逾30份眼科及視覺科學期刊的審閱者。梁教授還獲得美國眼科學會、視覺及眼科研究協會、亞洲視覺及眼科研究協會、亞太眼科學會的年會、世界青光眼大會、世界眼科大會、世界眼科領導人教育論壇、以及青光眼基金會智囊團會議的邀請,作為高級講師及特邀演講者在以上會議匯報研究成果。
梁教授曾榮獲多個本地和國際的研究和服務獎項,包括香港醫學會獎 (1996)、光明行動護眼基金青年研究員 (2004)、傑出研究員 (2005)、和最佳研究員 (2008-2009) 獎、世界眼科大會國際預防失明最佳論文獎 (2006)、美國聖地牙哥加州大學Schanzlin研究獎 (2007)、美國眼科學會成就獎 (2008)、亞太眼科學會Nakajima獎 (2010)、亞太眼科學會成就獎 (2010)、視覺及眼科研究協會 / Alcon臨床醫生與科學家研究獎 (2010)、亞太聯合青光眼大會青年科學家獎 (2010)、世界青光眼大會臨床醫生與科學家研究獎 (2011)、亞太青光眼學會青年科學家獎 (2012)、美國眼科學會組織獎 (2012) 、以及亞太眼科學會傑出服務獎 (2014)。
梁教授與美國加州大學聖地牙哥分校Hamilton青光眼中心主管Robert N. Weinreb教授合作發明了一種活體視網膜節細胞個體成像的動物實驗模型,這個動物模型為他取得了2009年世界青光眼協會科學獎 (The Promise) 。這個模型提供了一種非侵入性的、高效的方法以長期監測視網膜節細胞的完整性,為青光眼視網膜節細胞退化和神經保護作用的研究提供了便利。在青光眼基金會 (美國紐約)、美國健康援助基金會 (美國馬裏蘭州) 和優配研究金 (香港) 的資助下,梁教授目前正在研究促進青光眼和視神經病變下視網膜節細胞存活的細胞學和分子生物學機制。同時,梁教授還是許多臨床和轉化研究項目的首席研究員,包括影像技術在青光眼早期診斷和監測的應用研究,降低眼壓的激光療法研究,以及青光眼和其它視神經病變的視網膜節細胞保護和再生治療研究等等。
