1.	Promote interdisciplinary research on local studies, interest
	in Hong Kong and consciousness of local identity.

2.	Foster students’ interest and professional knowledge in
	Hong Kong studies; strengthen their sense of belonging to
	Hong Kong and commitment to give back to society.

3.	Facilitate academic exchanges on local studies between
	Hong Kong, the Mainland and Taiwan; integrate with local
	studies carried out in major cities across the world; and
	lead the internationalisation of local studies.
